Hi! I'm Paula, and I've had my own personal experiences with someone with Autism & ADD... (their story not told here to preserve privacy/ confidentiality)
It's the reason I am so passionate about helping parents, caregivers and families who are dealing with issues brought on by their loved one's disabilities

Do you also struggle to know how to help your child or loved one?
There's more to my story, but basically if you met this person I know with Autism/ADD today, you would never know how far they've come from when they were first diagnosed. Many things were helpful, including learning to understand the sensory issues from an OT, and also using the Therapeutic Listening program (headphone therapy) which helped this person become less sensitive to noises, understand what we were saying, help regulate the body, and even helped with feeding/chewing difficulties. It's a sensory integration intervention which I am now a trained provider for, as it also helps with the underlying cause of dyslexia which is auditory processing difficulties. I now use this headphone therapy in conjunction with tutoring, with students who might have attention issues or have barriers to reading, such as not being able to do the Orton-Gillingham Barton program.
I also was inspired from my personal experiences to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) so I could help families with individuals with needs learn how to react to behaviors from their loved ones. I now do ABA parent training, going into families' homes to work with them directly 1:1 because I love teaching parents the techniques of helping manage behaviors themselves. When I leave a family, usually they thank me for teaching them how best to react, as now they know how they can help not only their child but their whole family as well.
I've been tutoring children/adults with learning delays due to ASD/ADHD/DS/ODD & more, so I now have 25+ years experience, including homeschooling my own son for 5th grade. I also have 10yrs experience as a behavioral therapist and been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since November 2020, so I can do behavioral therapy including ABA Parent Training, working 1:1 with families. Additionally, I am a UCLA PEERS(R) Certified Teen, Telehealth and Young Adult Social Skills provider. I have worked educationally and behaviorally with ages 2 up to 72, as I am also currently the sole behavioral consultant to two separate sets of residential group homes (8 homes in total) for adults with all kinds of needs (ASD, DS, Schizophrenia, mood disorders and other disabilities), working behaviorally with residents and training 40+ staff. I seem to be able to work with children, teens and adults whom other teachers/therapists could not work with or help--and I LOVE IT! It is my passion and a great privilege to be able to help not just these children/young adults, but also their families (via ABA Parent Training), as EVERYONE is happier when our loved ones move ahead and succeed...If you'd like to hear more, or wish to tell me YOUR story so I can begin helping YOUR child or young adult...
